This is a critical element in today's emailing world, as your reputation is almost purely based on your ability to automate this. If you continue to broadcast to subscribers who have clicked such a button, your reputation is immediately harmed and your sending mail servers are taken off their whitelists - which ensures all your email to that ISP will go directly into the junk folder.
